470. Josephine County Medical Society Scholarship
- Award: Multiple $1,000 awards
- Eligibility: Graduating seniors in Josephine County.
- Selection Criteria: Applicants interested in pursuing a medical career which involves direct patient contact. Such career paths would include physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMT’s) physician assistants (PA’s), nurse practitioners (NP’s) and physical therapists. As doctors and nurses are in shortest supply in our area, those applications are of special interest. Additional consideration to need, GPA, class rank, quality of biography, evidence of success in such sciences as biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy and emergency medicine at the high school level, and SAT scores.
- Use of Funds: May be used at any accredited two- or four-year colleges. Scholarship checks are mailed directly to the recipients’ post-secondary education program. Scholarship funds may also be used to reimburse students for required books and school supplies with advanced approval.
