Local Scholarship Application

The Redwood Local Scholarship Application is open to graduating high school seniors living in Josephine County or attending one of the following high schools: Grants Pass, Hidden Valley, North Valley, Illinois Valley, Rogue River, and Glendale. Through one application, you have access to over 200 scholarship funds and $500,000 in awards.

Application Open: November 1st
Application Closed: February 7th, 5:00 PM PST (main application). February 28th, 5:00 PM PST (additional essays).

If you are planning to pursue a career or field of study in a trade, technical, vocational, or apprenticeship program, please fill out the Redwood Trade Scholarship Application. The trade application will match you to scholarships ONLY available to students pursuing trade programs. Once you complete the trade application, we encourage you to fill out the Redwood Local Scholarship Application, as many of the scholarships available through this application are open to students pursuing the trades.

The Redwood Local Scholarship Application has two steps:

1. Main Application: The main application will ask general questions to qualify you for most of the local scholarships that Redwood awards.
2. Additional Essays: Some scholarships require an additional essay or other requirement to apply. When you complete and submit the main application, you will be prompted to apply for these additional scholarships!

You will be asked for the following when you apply:

1. Basic Demographic Information
2. Household Financial Information and FAFSA/ORSAA Student Aid Index
3. List of Activities (school, work, volunteer) you have participated in with dates and average hours
4. Contact information for 2 letters of recommendation (name and email address)
5. Four personal essay questions (250 words each)
   • What are your specific educational plans and career goals and why? What inspires you to achieve them?
   • What have you done for your family or community that you care about the most and why?
   • Describe a personal accomplishment, impactful change, or experience that has occurred in your life. What skills and strengths were needed to respond and what did you learn?
   • Describe a skill, ability, or knowledge you have developed that you are proud of. How did you develop it and why is it important to you?

Upon completing the application, you may be prompted to fill out additional information or scholarships that require an additional essay, letter of recommendation, or eligibility question. Please see the Scholarship Catalogue to review the requirements in advance.
