After graduating from IVHS, Kaya now works there. “In high school, being told that “art is not a career” and that I needed to pursue a “real career” created a lot of uncertainty for me. It led me down a long, winding path of discovering who I was and what truly inspired me. That pressure to conform made me question my passion for creativity, pushing me to explore various fields, none of which felt right. Because of this experience, I wanted to become an educator who would fully support students’ creativity and encourage them to pursue their passions. I understand how important it is to have someone who believes in your artistic potential, and I strive to be that positive influence in my students’ lives. My goal is to help them see the value in their artistic abilities and empower them to follow their creative dreams, no matter what challenges or discouragements they may face.”
Her advice to other students is to trust your passion and follow what truly excites you, even if others might not see its value right away. Your creativity and unique perspective are strengths, and the world needs diverse, passionate voices in every field—including the arts. Remember that success doesn’t always follow a straight path, and it’s okay if your journey takes time or includes challenges. Those experiences will shape you and help you discover what you’re passionate about. Surround yourself with people who believe in your potential, and never let anyone else’s doubts define your future. Your passion is worth pursuing, and your creative talents are just as valid as any other skill.
